Tradie belts out Pavarotti classic on worksite

A young tradie has brought a Sydney construction site to a standstill with his amazing rendition of an opera classic.

Davi Oliveira was known as a hard working but soft spoken labourer before his booming voice was heard by his colleagues over the dominating sound of drills and jackhammers at his worksite.

Since the 22-year-old Brazilian revealed his hidden talent, his fellow labourers have been treated to opera performances like this acapella rendition of Pavarotti's Nessun Dorma, captured by his friend Patrick Keating above the Sydney skyline in Edgecliffe on Monday.

"We were working with him for ages before we worked out he could sing like Pavarotti," Mr Keating told Nine.com.au.

"I thought he was joking at first but he gave me a full blast right there on the street – I couldn't believe it," he added.

The talented tradesman's angelic voice reverberated through the worksite as he reached the crescendo of his performance.

But instead of holding for applause, the humble labourer casually placed his hard hat back on and continued working.

Mr Oliveira has been living in Sydney for the last year but plans to go home for a month before returning to Australia to pursue a career in music. 

"He is quitting the worksite to study music. He said Pavarotti is his idol and this is his dream," Mr Keating said.

Although Mr Oliveria and his impromptu performances will be missed on the worksite, Mr Keating said his peers "one hundred percent" backed him chasing his passion.
