Open ticket, not party deals: Brown

Preference deals between political parties shouldn't even be an option in the upcoming election according to former Australian Greens leader Bob Brown.
In response to murmurs of allegiances, including between his former party and the ALP, Dr Brown on Wednesday welcomed voting reform which empowers the public.
"There's contention about where preferences should go - leave it to the voters, open tickets are a good thing," he told reporters, adding that he will be a guest at some Greens events during the campaign in the lead up to the July 2 poll.
