Only 'rubble' will be left: Albanese
Labor frontbencher Anthony Albanese says whoever is prime minister by the end of the day will inherit "rubble".
Mr Albanese, who warned against previous Labor leadership spills, told the Nine Network the Australian public should be angry about the behaviour of Peter Dutton, who is seeking to topple Malcolm Turnbull for the Liberal leadership.
"If he is successful he will inherit rubble - that will be all that's left of the government," Mr Albanese said, adding that an election should be called.
Labor deputy leader Tanya Plibersek doesn't care whether Mr Turnbull or Mr Dutton leads the coalition to the next election.
"Doesn't matter, same product, different label," Ms Plibersek said.
"Peter Dutton has voted for all of the worst policies of the Turnbull and the Abbott governments. He's voted against the banking royal commission, he's voted in favour of cutting schools.
"The only discernible difference between Peter Dutton and Malcolm Turnbull is Malcolm Turnbull believes in reducing pollution, and Peter Dutton doesn't."
