It is believed the pair was pulling cray pots and they were both thrown into the ocean by a large swell. They were not wearing life jackets.

One of the fishermen was able to swim beneath the vessel to retrieve a life jacket and the boat’s emergency beacon, and then held friend afloat for almost two hours until help arrived.

When water police arrive, they found the vessel submerged.
