One Nation senator to face creditors

One Nation senator Rod Culleton has rejected suggestions there could be another issue leading to his dismissal from the Senate.

The Senate on Monday is expected to refer the West Australian senator to the High Court over his eligibility to be elected in July.

That issue relates to a larceny conviction which was in place at the time of the election.

Anyone convicted of an offence which attracts a jail term of a year or longer is disqualified from sitting in parliament.

However, a second constitutional issue could also arise if he is found to be bankrupt or insolvent.

Creditors of his company Elite Grains will meet in Perth on Thursday morning to discuss the liquidation.

Asked whether he had traded while insolvent, Senator Culleton told ABC television on Wednesday: "No, not at all."

He said he had initiated the creditors' meeting and was looking forward to it.

"At the end of the day, personally these are all about companies and I as a director have done things during that time to best place the survival of those companies."

Liquidators were appointed to Elite Grains in November 2013.
