One in three Libs think Bishop should go

One in three Liberal-National Party voters believe Speaker Bronwyn Bishop should stand down after she chartered a helicopter to a fundraiser, a poll has found.

The Seven-ReachTel survey shows 58 per cent of voters across all parties believe Mrs Bishop should resign, compared with 29.5 per cent who think she should stay.

Just under 50 per cent of LNP voters think the Speaker can stay in the chair, compared to 33.7 per cent who agree she needs to go.

In the wake of the scandal which has embroiled Mrs Bishop, 73 per cent of those polled would back a new federal anti-corruption commission to oversee political donations, allowances and entitlements.

The survey of more than 3000 people conducted on Thursday night found Labor leading 53 per cent to 47 per cent on a two-party basis.

Opposition Leader Bill Shorten holds a 10-point lead over Tony Abbott as to who would make a better prime minister.
