Oliver Curtis walks free after a year in jail for insider trading

It started snowing moments before the husband of PR queen Roxy Jacenko walked free from Cooma Correctional Centre.

Wearing a cap, a thin hoodie and jeans he appeared startled as he greeted a security guard who ushered him past a large contingent of media and into a Range Rover parked on the street.

The 31-year-old did not pause to chat about his 12 months behind bars.

"I'm just looking forward to getting home, guys," Curtis told AAP.

The security guard told journalists "don't push, guys" as Curtis climbed into the back seat of the luxury four-wheel drive.

He was then whisked away to Cooma Airport for a tarmac reunion with his family.

Screams of 'Dadda' were heard at the door of the private plane as soon as the father-of-two was within sight, and when he climbed the stairs his daughter Pixie threw her arms around his neck.

His wife did not make an appearance but it’s believed she was also on the jet as she has previously promised.

Curtis became eligible for parole at midnight after serving his minimum sentence for insider trading, over a scam with his then best friend John Hartmann which netted him $1.43 million.

The money was spent on luxury cars, a Bondi apartment and trips overseas. 

Hartmann then became the Crown’s star witness.

At the time Justice Lucy McCallum said Curtis "shows no sign of progression beyond the self-interested pursuit of material wealth which prompted his offending".

His wife Roxy Jacenko told 60 Minutes "seeing the picture of Ollie with the handcuffs, being led into the prison van, was a very horrible feeling. It was the worst".

"I've said he's in China. I think there's certain things you choose to tell a child."

It has been a tumultuous year for 36-year-old Jacenko, who revealed she was battling breast cancer after her husband was jailed.

The only condition of his parole is that he adheres to a good behaviour bond for the one year left on his maximum sentence.

The question now is what next for the former investment banker? 

He will no doubt be pursued by paparazzi and will have to tell employers about his criminal record.

But tonight he is free to celebrate, Cooma Jail a distant memory.
