Two police officers punched and spat at on NSW' Far North Coast

A man has been arrested after allegedly punching and spitting at police when they intervened during an attack on another person on NSW' Far North Coast.

Officers called to a home in Zara at about 2.30pm on Sunday attempted to speak to the man, prompting a struggle before he was arrested and taken into custody.

A senior constable with a neck injury and a constable with a hand injury were taken to Tweed Heads Hospital for treatment before being released.

A 22-year-old man was also taken to the hospital and charges are expected to be laid on his release.
