Off-duty driver filmed trying to stop Melbourne train surfer

A train surfer in Melbourne clung between carriages and filmed his life-risking antics as an off-duty train driver filmed him from inside.

The footage is now being investigated after a minute-long video of the stunt was posted on Instagram yesterday, the Herald Sun reports.

As the young man holds onto the front of the train the Metro worker records him from inside and warns him he will get "a smack in the mouth".

As the train stops at a station the two appear to have a brief confrontation before the young man flees.

Metro spokeswoman Sammie Black said the group was trying to idenify the off-duty driver so any evidence could be provided to Metro security and police.

"We have authorised officers across the network, a dedicated security and surveillance team who investigate every incident and we work closely with Police to stamp out train surfing, M"s Black said.

"The railway is only dangerous for those who choose to take risks and train surfing is a stunt that risks lives or serious injury."
