The court heard there were health concerns about the accused's condition.
NSW Police found the body of a man, believed to be aged in his 30s, dead with a gunshot wound after being called to Jenolan Street in Oberon on Thursday morning.
Officers arrested Simon and seized a gun at the scene.
Initial inquiries suggest the two men were known to each other, police say.
Simon will remain in custody until his next court date on April 5.
