Obama to give speech while in Aust for G20

US President Barack Obama is to deliver a speech on American leadership in the Asia-Pacific while he is in Australia for the G20 summit.

A White House spokesman has confirmed Mr Obama will be attending the Brisbane summit from November 15-16.

The president has also scheduled a separate speech, on a date to be confirmed, on "US leadership in the Asia-Pacific".

Other G20 leaders will also deliver speeches across the country before and after the summit.

Three leaders - China's Xi Jinping, Britain's David Cameron and India's Narendra Modi - have accepted invitations to address the parliament in Canberra.

Mr Modi has put out a personal plea on the internet for Australians to suggest what he might do while visiting their country.
