US president departs Brisbane after G20 summit concludes

US President Barack Obama has departed Brisbane following the conclusion of the G20 summit today.

Mr Obama boarded Air Force One from Amberley RAAF base around 7pm where he flew to Hawaii to refuel before heading back to Washington DC.

The security operation to get Mr Obama on to Air Force One was extensive, with the president flanked and surrounded by security all the way out to the south-west Brisbane military base.

Mr Obama left the Brisbane Convention Centre via his motorcade and drove to Herston where he boarded helicopter Marine One for Amberley RAAF base.
