Three dead in car crash in NT

Three people have died in a car crash on a remote road in central Australia.

Police were called to the crash on Jarra Jarra Access Road, 300km northwest of Alice Springs, after a person walked into the Aboriginal health clinic at remote Willowra and raised the alarm just before 12:30pm on Wednesday.

The Northern Territory road toll now stands at 49 compared to 26 for the same period last year.

Four people were killed and a fifth hospitalised after a single-vehicle rollover on the Kakadu Highway, south of Darwin, last month.
