THE NT'S YOUTH DETENTION CRISIS:

* The NT will jointly fund a royal commission with the federal government, with first hearings to be held as early as September

* The NT will build a new youth detention facility and a prison farm in Mataranka

* The chief minister will appoint an inspector-general of corrections

* On Friday a review of the complete NT Corrections system is due and will inform the government's next steps

* The chief minister has taken over the corrections portfolio

* Former corrections minister John Elferink remains attorney-general and still holds six portfolios including justice, children and families and health

* Two staff members identified in the 4 Corners video remain working in the system

* Children can now only be held in isolation for a maximum of 24 hours in a standard sized cell but without airconditioning or fans

* There are currently 39 girls and boys being held at Don Dale.
