With the battering Australia's Top End received from Cyclone Lam fresh in their minds, a group of territorians will soon join the emergency response to Cyclone Pam.

The 13 healthcare and logistics workers will fly out of Darwin on Wednesday, headed to Vanuatu, where they will bolster the ranks of an Australian Medical Assistance team in place since Sunday.

The team is working to establish a temporary ward at Port Vila's damaged hospital, to boost capacity for emergency care and also general practice.

"Almost a month ago, the Northern Territory faced its own tropical cyclone, Cyclone Lam," Health Minister John Elferink said in a statement on Tuesday.

"While recovery efforts continue in the Territory's Top End, we are taking the additional task of providing assistance to our South Pacific neighbours in our stride."
