NT govt adviser charged with corruption

The chief of staff to a Northern Territory minister has been stood down as he prepares to face court on corruption charges.

Paul Mossman, 43, is chief of staff to Country Liberals frontbencher Bess Price, who holds six portfolios including Housing and Local Government and Community Services.

Mossman has been charged with corruptly receiving benefits in relation to an investigation of Darwin travel agency Latitude Travel and bookings it made for Ms Price via the Department of the Chief Minister.

He has been accused alongside travel agent and former NT Crimestoppers chair Xana Kamitsis, 46, who has been charged with corruptly giving a benefit and criminal deception.

Chief Minister Adam Giles on Friday said Mossman has been stood down on full pay until the matter is resolved by the court.

His department has been co-operating fully with police throughout its investigation and will continue to co-operate with police, Mr Giles said in a statement.

Last month he announced KPMG would conduct an independent review into public sector travel booking processes over the past financial year.

The government commits to responding fully to any issues raised by this review, he said.

He said the government has also recently adopted a corporate travel management system.

Ms Price said she would not be commenting.

Mossman and Kamitsis will appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
