Former Chief Justice reconsidering leading NT commission

The man chosen by the government to head up a royal commission into the Northern Territory's child protection and youth justice system is reportedly reconsidering taking on the job after conflicts of interest were raised.
Brian Ross Martin was announced on Thursday as the government's choice to lead the investigation, but on Friday it was revealed his daughter Joanna had worked as a justice adviser to former Attorney-General Delia Lawrie from 2009 until 2011, a period covered by the scope of the royal commission.
Sky News reported on Sunday night that Mr Martin was unhappy with his family being thrust into the spotlight, along with past sentences some found to be too lenient in the NT, and was reportedly considering whether to sign onto the commission and take the job.
It was also reported that the federal government will look at expanding powers of the commission, particularly in the area of child protection.
