Man wanted for NT tourist attacks

Northern Territory police are searching for a man responsible for two indecent assaults on three female tourists staying at the same budget accommodation in Alice Springs.

A 23-year-old woman was pushed against a fence and indecently assaulted as she was walking along the Stuart Highway towards her budget accommodation at about 10.30pm on Sunday.

Then on Tuesday at about 11.30pm, two young women staying at the same accommodation were grabbed and pushed to the ground on the street outside.

The three women gave similar descriptions of their attacker and police believe the same man is behind both attacks.

He has been described as a Caucasian male aged in his early to mid-40s, about 180cm tall with short curly hair and of a medium build.

He wore a pair of glasses during the second assault.

"It is not acceptable that anyone should have to endure an assault of this nature, and this is most certainly not the experience we want our tourists to take away with them," Senior Constable Jamie Mawhinney said in a statement on Friday.
