A helicopter carrying four people has crashed at a remote site near Yulara, close to Uluru in the Northern Territory.

The crash happened just after 6.30pm on Wednesday and one of the passengers has been seriously injured.

Medical and police officers from Yulara are on the scene with medical staff from Alice Springs on the way, a Northern Territory Police, Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman told AAP.

"It has been a bit tricky for emergency services staff to get to," the spokeswoman said.

No one was trapped and there were no fatalities, the spokeswoman said.

One person who was the most seriously injured has been transported from the crash site to Yulara resort village where they will be triaged and flown by the Royal Flying Doctor to Alice Springs Hospital, a Central Australian Health Service spokeswoman told AAP.

One person is believed to be uninjured and the other two injured people will be transported to Alice Springs Hospital.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau has been notified of the crash.
