Guyula's NT parliament seat safe
AAP
Northern Territory independent Yingiya Mark Guyula will stay in the parliament after an application challenging his election was dismissed.
The newly-elected member for Nhulunbuy risked losing his seat after the NT Electoral Commission (NTEC) received a complaint about his eligibility.
There were claims the Yolgnu politician breached electoral law because he was employed by East Arnhem Council - a government organisation - when nominated.

The matter was referred to the Court of Disputed Returns but on Thursday the application was dismissed by both Mr Guyula and the NTEC.
Mr Guyula ousted Labor stalwart Lynne Walker by just seven votes in the August election.
