Girl charged after NT bus attacks

A teenage girl has been charged after passengers were assaulted and robbed on two Darwin buses.

Police say two girls approached two student passengers on a bus, verbally abusing and assaulting them before stealing coins from the driver and running away on Monday night.

They say the pair entered a second bus later in the evening, stole a passenger's phone and assaulted her when she refused to give them her PIN.

A 14-year-old girl was arrested over the incidents on Wednesday and charged with two counts of aggravated robbery, stealing and property damage.

She was remanded in custody and will appear in Darwin Youth Justice Court on April 7.

Officers are continuing to search for the second girl.
