Federal police are investigating a Northern Territory teenager allegedly found with a list of people he wanted to behead.

The 16-year-old Darwin boy was arrested on Thursday during a raid sparked by property offences.

Police allegedly found the list and a personal communications device understood to contain material linking him to Islamic State, the Northern Territory News reports.

An AFP spokeswoman said the agency was investigating a 16-year-old male in Darwin.

"He has not been charged with any commonwealth offence," she said.

"No further comment will be made at this time."

It's understood the teen appeared before a magistrate on Friday and was remanded to Darwin Correctional Centre.
