* HOW MANY?: An estimated 8,000 people at Darwin's Bicentennial Park

* WHO WAS THERE?: NT Administrator John Hardy, Chief Minister Adam Giles, Opposition Leader Michael Gunner, NT Senator Nova Peris, Darwin Lord Mayor Katrina Fong Lim, Commodore Brenton Smyth, Commander Northern Command, Lieutenant General John Toolan, Commander of the US Marine Corps Pacific, and consulate officials.

* INTERESTING FACT: A crocheted poppy made by Darwin women took 2000 hours to make. Some of the smaller poppies that are part of it will be laid at Lone Pine.
