A 12-year-old boy has been tasered by police after he and some mates allegedly did donuts in a stolen car on a Northern Territory school oval.

Police say the child and two other boys aged 13 and 15 were driving erratically around the Palmerston area, including at school precincts and the Moulden Park oval on Monday morning.

Just after 8am there were more reports from concerned members of the public about the youths also causing damage to the Rosebery middle school oval.

Detective Senior Sergeant Rob Jordan said police arrested the offenders soon after at a service station in Bakewell, where the youngest was tasered.

"It is extremely lucky that these offenders were quickly arrested by police," he said.

"With such reckless driving in close proximity to schools at drop off time, we are very fortunate that no children were injured or killed."

Police will allege the youths were involved in a number of traffic and property offences, including dangerous driving and damage to two ovals.
