Boy, 2, dies after being crushed by tyre

A two-year-old boy in Katherine has died after being crushed by a tyre.

Northern Territory Police say the boy's family were at a local business on Thursday afternoon when they heard a noise and discovered the child lying under a tyre.

He was taken to Katherine District Hospital but died from his injuries.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
