Police find mother of young girl named 'Ruby' after public appeal

The mother of a young red-haired girl named "Ruby" who was found wandering the streets of North Gosford in south-eastern NSW has contacted police.

A member of the public found Ruby walking alone near the intersection of Etna Street and Mann Street around 4.40am today.

Police brought the young girl to Gosford Police Station and then issued a public appeal to find her parents.

The young girl’s mother has now been found and is currently speaking to police and representatives from other government departments.

The Commander of the Brisbane Water Local Area Command, Superintendent Danny Sullivan, thanked the community for their support.

“Courtesy of the community taking an active role in this appeal, we were able to reach more than 160,000 people via social media alone,” Superintendent Sullivan said.
