Woman pepper sprayed while biting NSW cop

Police were forced to use pepper spray on a woman who bit into an officer's arm on the NSW central coast.

The 32-year-old allegedly locked her jaws on the officer while he was trying to arrest her on Friday night in Hamlyn Terrace, having fled after hitting a nearby parked car.

So tight was her grip that pepper spray "had to be deployed to detach the woman from his arm", police said.

The injured officer was taken to Wyong Hospital for a tetanus shot, antibiotic treatment and tests as a precaution.

The woman was charged with assaulting police occasioning actual bodily harm, resist police, assault police and not providing particulars to another driver.

She was granted conditional bail to appear at Wyong Local Court on Wednesday.
