What would you choose? Aussie mother-of-six faces $2 million decision

If you had to choose between a $2 million dollar property or $2 million in gold, what would you pick?

That’s the tough but not-so-tough decision facing an aussie grandmother.

Lynne Mitchell received the news she’d won the first prize in the RSL Lotteries latest draw this week.

The Maitland mother-of-six now has to decide between a $2 million luxury penthouse in Sydney’s inner west and $2 million in gold bullion.

Mrs Mitchell, who initially thought the phone call she received was a scam, took a tour of the three-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment this morning.

The 200sqm Camperdown property comes with $100,000 worth of furniture and appliances and a rooftop terrace with views of Sydney’s skyline.

“I never thought I would be living nor having something like this in Sydney for sure,” Mrs Mitchell told 9NEWS.

“(It’s) still a little bit surreal.”

RSL Lotteries General Manager Tracey Bishop said Mrs Mitchell had 10 business days to make the decision.

“It’s a tough decision – but one that thousands of people would like the opportunity to face,” Ms Bishop said.

“(Her) ticket was one of more than two million and her lucky number came up at the winner’s draw.”

Mrs Mitchell, who has family members who’ve served in the defence forces, bought only six tickets for $30 in the raffle.

“It was the last ticket in her book that was the lucky one,” Ms Bishop said.

Although Mrs Mitchell hasn’t yet made a decision, she said the property in Sydney is “very different” to her home in Maitland.

“(The kids) would love it.

“Where we live, we’ve got a lovely view, we look over Mount Sugarloaf but this is certainly better. Not better, just different.”

The property has the potential to earn more than $75,000 in rental income annually.
