Hundreds of apprentices and trainees will benefit from the WestConnex project by gaining experience and qualifications, NSW Premier Mike Baird has announced.

The Baird government is using the $16.8 billion project to set up a purpose-built training academy for up to 1500 workers in Homebush.

Mr Baird made the announcement with Roads Minister Duncan Gay at the academy on Wednesday.
