TOY VENDING MACHINE MISHAPS IN AUSTRALIA:

APRIL 2017

Sydney: A three-year-old toddler manages to weave his way up the chute of a soft-toy vending machine at the Australian Hotel and Brewery at Rouse Hill on Anzac Day and is rescued after 20 minutes. He doesn't get a toy from the machine but spends time playing on a fire truck and is given a hand-knitted bear by firefighters.

FEBRUARY 2016

Melbourne: A four-year-old boy spends five hours with his hand stuck inside a toy vending machine, with fire crews describing the rescue operation as "really delicate".

JULY 2015

Cairns: A young boy becomes stuck in a machine at the Mount Sheridan Plaza shopping centre in Cairns. He is freed after five minutes when security officers unlock the machine's toy chamber. He is given a penguin.

DECEMBER 2008

Darwin: A two-year-old boy climbs up the chute of a machine at a Darwin shopping centre and spends 90 minutes stuck inside the glass cage. Firefighters use a hacksaw and the jaws of life to extract the child, speculating he must have been "a bit of a contortionist" to get in there.
