Van submerged in Sydney's Georges River

Water police are trying to retrieve a white van that's partly submerged in a river in Sydney's west.

Police were notified on Wednesday morning that a van was floating in the Georges River at Milperra.

"Water police are gently nudging the van to the bank so it can then be inspected," a police spokesman told AAP.

Stolen vehicles are often dumped in the river, he said.
