Man drowns on NSW Central Coast in horror day on the coast

A man has drowned on the NSW Central Coast in a shocking start to the New Year on NSW beaches.

The 69-year-old was pulled from the water at a beach at The Entrance North but could not be revived.

Two men were also pulled from the surf at a beach in Sydney’s north.

The men, believed to be in their 20s, were unconscious in the water when rescued by life guards at Palm Beach around 2.30pm.

One man was taken to hospital in the CareFlight Rescue helicopter, while the other was taken via ambulance.

Surf Life Saving NSW has reported a further 12 spinal injuries and more than 40 call outs across the state today.
