Two men injured in Mother's Day shooting

Two men, believed to be step-brothers, have been airlifted to hospital after a domestic-related shooting in the NSW Hunter region.

Police say were called to Bingleburra about midday today following reports two men had been shot.

Officers were told the two men - aged 35 and 28 - were involved in an altercation in which the older man was shot in the chest.

The shooting occurred on a remote property in Bingleburra. 9news

The younger man fled and was found nearby with a gunshot wound which is believed to be self-inflicted, police say.

Both men have been airlifted to John Hunter Hospital with the younger man reported to be critical and the older man in a serious but stable condition.
