Two dead in rural NSW crash

Two people have been killed in a truck and car smash in western NSW.

Police say a car was doing a U-turn on the Newell Highway near Coonabarabran on Monday night when it collided with a semi-trailer.

The car's male driver died at the scene.

The female passenger died shortly later in hospital.

The truck driver underwent blood and urine tests.
