Two dead in NSW road crash

Two people and a number of sheep are dead after a collision between a truck and a car in rural NSW.

Police say the crash, involving a livestock truck and a sedan, happened on the Newell Highway south of Dubbo on Tuesday afternoon.

The two people in the car died at the scene.

The truck driver was taken to Dubbo Base Hospital for treatment.

Police say he will also undergo mandatory blood and urine tests.

The Newell Highway remained closed in both directions and traffic was being diverted.
