Two bushwalkers rescued in NSW

Two bushwalkers have been rescued after activating an emergency beacon in the NSW Blue Mountains.

A 37-year-old woman and 38-year-old man collected a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) from Katoomba Police Station about 9.30am on Sunday before setting off on a walk at Claustral Canyon in Mt Tomah.

Their beacon was activated about 12 hours later and police began a search, together with officers from the NSW Ambulance Special Casualty Access Team.

An ambulance helicopter also joined the search and the pair was located just after 11pm in dense bushland.

The man and woman from Sylvania were not injured but were assessed at the scene.
