Truckie in fatal crash pleads not guilty

The driver of a fuel tanker that crashed and exploded into a fireball on Sydney's northern beaches, killing two people, has pleaded not guilty to dangerous driving.

Shane Anthony Day's truck was hauling more than 30,000 litres of fuel when it crashed at the bottom of a steep hill in Mona Vale, rolled, hit several cars, and burst into flames in October 2013.

Appearing at Downing Centre District Court on Friday, Day pleaded not guilty to two charges of dangerous driving occasioning death and one of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.

An estimated four-week trial was laid down to commence on February 1.
