A man accused of stabbing three men at a northern Sydney gym during a violent crime spree that ended with a stand-off has had his case adjourned in a Newcastle court.

Ricky Lee Kincheila, 27, was arrested early on Wednesday morning after allegedly spending 17 hours armed on a Newcastle apartment complex roof.

He was subsequently charged with a string of offences, including three counts of causing grievous bodily harm and five counts of armed robbery.

His matter was on Thursday mentioned in the Newcastle Local Court, where it was adjourned until April 5.

Kincheila remains in custody and is expected to appear via audio visual link when the case is next mentioned.
