Trio related to Ayoub murder go to trial

Three men accused of being involved in the daylight assassination of a bodybuilder in a western Sydney park last year will go to trial in the NSW Supreme Court.

It's not alleged Mohammed El-Chami, 25, or either co-accused, brothers Bilal Allouche, 22, and Ebrahim Allouche, 28, pulled the trigger on the shots that left Hedi Ayoub dead against a tree at a Punchbowl park in June 2015.

Rather, the crown has argued they were part of a joint criminal enterprise and helped lure Mr Ayoub, 22, to the park on the understanding he would be harmed, Burwood Local Court heard on Thursday.

Mr Ayoub, a bodybuilder from Greenacre, is believed to have gone to the park to meet a group of people but was gunned down near a children's playground having been shot first in the arm and leg before taking cover behind a tree, it's alleged.

Magistrate Paula Russell on Thursday decided there was sufficient evidence for El-Chami and the Allouche brothers to go to trial in the NSW Supreme Court, all facing charges of murder.

"There is a reasonable prospect... a jury would convict each of the accused," she said, referring to evidence expected to be led.

A female supporter of Mr Ayoub became emotional during Thursday's hearing, but no one connected to the case wanted to comment to media when approached outside court.

The three men are due to appear at the NSW Supreme Court on August 5.
