2006: Karlie gives birth to Khandalyce Kiara Pearce in Alice Springs.

December 14, 2008: Karlie, 20, last seen alive in the ACT before she and Daniel James Holdom drove off in her car.

December 19, 2008: Khandalyce, aged two, last seen alive at the same address before she and Holdom leave in a new car.

September 4, 2009: Karlie's mother reports her missing but withdraws it about a month later after being assured Karlie and her granddaughter are fine.

August 29, 2010: Skeleton of unidentified young woman found by trail bike riders in Belanglo State Forest in NSW's Southern Highlands.

2011: Karlie's family set up a Facebook page to find her hoping she can contact her sick mother.

February 6, 2012: Karlie's mother, Colleen Povey, dies aged 44 believing her daughter and granddaughter are safe.

July 15, 2015: A motorist finds the remains of a small child near a suitcase on the Karoonda Highway near the small town of Wynarka in South Australia.

October 21, 2015: Police identify the mother and daughter and link the cases.

October 28, 2015: Holdom is charged with Karlie's murder.

December 2015: He is charged with murdering Khandalyce.

August 24, 2017: Holdom is ordered to stand trial in the NSW Supreme Court charged with the two murders.

July 31, 2018: One week before trial is due to begin the 43-year-old pleads guilty to both murders and will face a sentence hearing on September 28.
