Police became involved in a melee with three teenage boys after the trio resisted arrest for vandalising a house and intimidating a woman who lived there.

Two of the teenagers, aged 15 and 18, were allegedly found by police destroying furniture inside a Cooks Hill home and intimidating a woman inside on Wednesday.

As police tried to arrest the two boys, a scuffle took place during which the 15-year-old is also alleged to have threatened the officers.

Meanwhile, another teenager, aged 13 was chased by police on foot to a nearby house where he damaged the back door trying to escape.

The three teenagers were taken to Newcastle Police Station.

Police said the 18-year-old and 13-year-old were already wanted for a matter at a nearby park before the alleged property damage at the Cooks Hill home.

The trio were held overnight and the two underage boys will face a children's court on Thursday.

The 18-year-old will also appear at Newcastle Local Court on Thursday.
