One man has been charged after police had to use capsicum spray to break up a brawl involving more than 20 people in Sydney's CBD.

Police say they were called to Pitt St around 4am on Easter Sunday to reports of two assaults and found more than 20 men and a woman fighting outside a convenience store.

Two men, aged 18 and 29, and a woman,19, were arrested by police at the scene.

Police later released the younger pair and charged the 29-year-old man from South Hurstville with affray and resist arrest.

The man also received a long term ban from licensed premises and is due to face Downing Centre Local Court on May 5.
