Three sought after sex assault on teen

The hunt is on for three men after a teenage girl was allegedly sexually assaulted at knife-point in southern NSW.

The 17-year-old was dragged into a bush by two men near a footbridge in central Albury at about 6.20pm on Tuesday evening, police say.

A third man then allegedly drew a knife and sexually assaulted her before all three fled along Dean Street, the town's main thoroughfare.

Police are treating the attack as isolated and random, and are hopeful witnesses will come forward.

"The incident occurred in the main street, in a busy area, at 6.20 at night, so some member of the public may have seen or heard something," Inspector Scott Russell told AAP.

He said the victim is traumatised but has no lasting physical injuries.

The three men may earlier have been loitering around a car dealership at the eastern end of Dean Street, he said.
