Sydney woman injured in hit-run incident

A Sydney woman has been taken to hospital with abdominal injuries after she was hit by a car, which then drove away without stopping.

The 34-year-old woman was attempting to cross The Horsley Drive at Smithfield on Friday evening with her husband and son when she was allegedly struck by a silver car, believed to be a Ford Focus or Mondeo.

The car was last seen turning into Stimson Street, police say.

The woman is being treated at Liverpool Hospital.

Police are appealing for the car's driver to come forward and for anyone with information to contact them.

The vehicle concerned is believed to have lost a side mirror in the collision.
