Sydney woman haunted by killer's eyes

The girlfriend of a man shot dead in an alleged plot involving two of his ex-lovers says she is still haunted by the gunman's eyes.

Raymond Pasnin was killed in a spray of bullets outside his mother's unit block just before midnight on October 30, 2013, at Pendle Hill in Sydney's west.

Prosecutors allege Mr Pasnin's ex-girlfriend, Louise-Catherine Spiteri Ahern, was driven by vengeance and scorn when she paid a man $4000 to kill him.

The crown says another of Mr Pasnin's former partners, 28-year-old April Barber, was also instrumental in setting him up to be murdered.

The jury has heard Daniel Haile, 28, admits to firing the fatal shot but says it was an act of self-defence.

Barber's then-partner Amin Zraika, 38, allegedly found out about her involvement after Mr Pasnin was killed but failed to tell the authorities.

Lyndal Archbold told the NSW Supreme Court she was leaving the unit alongside Mr Pasnin when she heard a loud "crack, crack, crack" ring out.

Ms Archbold said her boyfriend chased after a gunman as she threw herself into their car.

She heard the pair tussle before a second burst of gunshots rang out.

Ms Archbold said all she remembered was the shooter's eyes as he stood among a number of cars.

"I can't get those eyes out of my head," she told the NSW Supreme Court on Tuesday.

The jury has previously heard Mr Pasnin collapsed into her arms and died as the shooter fled the scene.

The trial continues at the NSW Supreme Court in Darlinghurst on Wednesday.
