Sydney woman airlifted to hospital after bushwalk accident

A woman in her 50s has been rescued after a dangerous fall on a walking track at Castle Cove over the weekend.

Emergency services said they were called to Willowie Road just before 2.30pm on Saturday.

A rescue helicopter was also sent to the scene.

Residents in the area were alerted to the rescue by the noise of the helicopter.

The woman had fallen about three metres and suffered leg injuries. 

The rescue helicopter winched her out of the area, and she was then transported to Royal North Shore Hospital.
