Sydney trio ashore after yacht breakdown

Three sailors have been hauled ashore after their yacht engine failed in waters east off Sydney Heads.

Emergency services went to the crew's rescue on Friday evening after the vessel lost its mast.

The trio had been travelling from Pittwater to Lord Howe Island.

NSW Water Police reached the yacht at about 9pm on Friday night and brought the three uninjured men to shore early on Saturday morning.
