Sydney traffic chaos as car blaze shuts down major tunnels

All lanes have been closed in both directions of the Domain Tunnel in Sydney after a car burst into flames this evening.

Emergency services received reports of a car fire at about 6.30pm.

The Sydney Harbour Tunnel is also closed to prevent vehicles from entering the Domain Tunnel.

Traffic is being diverted at Macquarie Street in the city.

Drivers have been advised to avoid the area and use the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

It is not yet known what cause the car to become alight, but it has now been extinguished, according to Live Traffic NSW.
