Sydney teacher charged with web grooming

A school teacher from western Sydney has been charged after allegedly engaging in sexually explicit conversations with a 14-year-old and a 15-year-old girl on Facebook.

The 28-year-old man was arrested at an independent school in Sydney's west on Tuesday.

His house was also raided by police, who seized a number of electronic items.

The man was charged at Penrith Police Station with two counts of using a carriage service to groom persons under 16 years for sexual activity.

He has been granted conditional bail and is due to appear at Penrith Local Court on December 10.

Detective Superintendent Linda Howlett says young people need to let police know about any inappropriate online conversations.

"We know you may be embarrassed or upset, but we will not judge you in any way, shape or form," she said.
