Sydney's Easter Show opens its gates

Sydney's Royal Easter show will open its gates on Thursday, with more than 800,000 people expected to attend the annual event over the next two weeks.

Aside from usual carnival rides and show bags on offer, children can embark on a walking journey through a kid-sized farm, teaching them the process of food production from 'crop to shop,' with the Little Hands On The Land exhibit.

Meanwhile, the District Exhibits display showcasing more than 50,000 fruits, vegetables, and grains in a colourful representation of NSW's five main regions.

Not to be missed is the blockbuster live action drama The Man From Snowy River, based on Banjo Paterson's famous poems.

Showgoers have been encouraged to make use of extra trains and buses with ShowLink tickets covering entry as well as travel on public transport.

Gates will open at 9am at the Olympic Park showgrounds, with the show running until April 19.
